We were without internet for several weeks when our tower fell to the ground. I am thankful for Phil, along with others, who worked tirelessly to get things up and going again so we can have a link to the outside world. During that time we celebrated two important days in our family….Our oldest and youngest daughters both had birthdays.
Jessica turned seventeen on July 3rd. I can hardly even write that out!!! It just doesn’t seem possible that my baby is so old!!! 🙂 It seems like not long ago I was proudly holding my sweet baby girl in my arms. I remember the day I came home from the hospital, my parents gave me the book Love You Forever. I read that book, and contemplated the fact that time would fly, and before I knew it my baby would be all grown up, but there is no way I could have fully comprehended just what that meant…….until now.
We celebrated Jessica’s birthday a day early when Jessica, Karina, and I had the opportunity to go to the city for the day. We enjoyed eating fun foods, and seeing a movie the girls had been hoping to see for a while. I had a blast “hanging out” with my teen daughters. I came home refreshed, and ready to continue on with daily jungle living. The next day we had a few friends over for carrot cake and coffee.
One of my favorite things about Jessica is her strong, adventurous, creative personality. She leads her siblings into many fun and crazy moments which make daily living FUN. Our home if oftentimes full of laughter and noise because of this girl. I praise God for all he has done in Jessica’s life. It is a blessing to be her mom, and to share life with this amazing young woman.
Makenna Grace turned three on June 30th. She was convinced she was turning five. She was determined to skip numbers three and four and go straight to five because her friends Colton, Kylie, and Megan were five, and they were able to go to children’s church on Sunday, climb trees, and go down the big tall slide. When the big day finally came, she ended up being happy to be THREE. We had a special visit from some friends from town, and were able to spend the day playing ball, swimming, fishing, and having a picnic in the grass. The next day we had a few friends over to celebrate.
